Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Cyfirx software or services ("Services"), operated by CrownWell Labs LLC ("CrownWell Labs", "Cyfirx", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use our Services. These Terms apply to all users including visitors, free-tier users, and paying subscribers.
2. Description of Service
Cyfirx is a digital forensics and incident-response platform. It includes a desktop application (available for Windows, macOS, and Linux) and, for Professional and Enterprise subscribers, a cloud-connected web portal accessible at cyfirx.com.
Features available to you depend on your subscription tier. See our pricing page for a current comparison of Free, Professional, and Enterprise plans.
3. Accounts
You must create an account to use Cyfirx. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep it updated.
You may not share your account with others, create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits, or register on behalf of another person without authorization.
4. License Grant & Restrictions
Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Cyfirx desktop application and access the web portal solely for your internal forensic, security, or investigative purposes.
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from Cyfirx
- Resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute Cyfirx without written permission
- Use Cyfirx to infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights
- Circumvent any licensing, activation, or access control mechanisms
- Use Cyfirx for unauthorized access to systems or data you do not own or have permission to analyze
5. Acceptable Use
Cyfirx is intended exclusively for lawful purposes, including:
- Authorized digital forensics investigations
- Incident response and post-incident analysis
- Security research with proper authorization
- Educational and professional training
You must not use Cyfirx to analyze systems or data you do not have explicit authorization to examine. Misuse of forensic tools may constitute a criminal offense. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts engaged in unauthorized or illegal activity.
6. Subscriptions & Billing
Cyfirx is available on a subscription basis (monthly or annual). Subscriptions begin on the date you provide payment information and automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Payment processing: All payments are processed by Paddle.com, which acts as our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record for all transactions. Paddle handles billing, invoicing, receipts, and tax compliance (including VAT/GST) on our behalf. By subscribing, you agree to Paddle's Terms of Use in addition to these Terms.
Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with reasonable notice. You will be notified of any price changes before they take effect on your subscription.
7. Free Tier & Trials
The Cyfirx Free tier is available permanently at no cost with usage limits (up to 3 active cases, 2 GB evidence files, 1 registered device, watermarked reports). No credit card is required.
Where a free trial of a paid tier is offered, it provides full access to the specified tier for the stated period with no credit card required. At the end of the trial, continued paid-tier access requires a subscription. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue trial offers at any time.
8. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard or by contacting [email protected]. Cancellation stops future billing; access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing period. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid.
See our Refund Policy for refund eligibility details.
9. Data & Privacy
Cyfirx Desktop operates offline. Your forensic case data, evidence files, and analysis results remain on your local machine and are never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use cloud sync (available on Professional and Enterprise plans). Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle account and usage data.
10. Intellectual Property
Cyfirx, its source code, interface, documentation, branding, and all associated content are the exclusive property of CrownWell Labs LLC and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any IP rights to you.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
Cyfirx is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CrownWell Labs LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use Cyfirx, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately and without prior notice if you breach these Terms, engage in unauthorized use, or fail to pay applicable fees. Upon termination, your license to use Cyfirx ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 10, 11, 12, 14, and 15) shall survive.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by email notification. Continued use of Cyfirx after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the applicable jurisdiction.
16. Contact
Questions about these Terms should be directed to [email protected] or via our contact page.
